The H7N9 subtype of Influenza A is an avian influenza virus affecting wild birds and poultry, and has been responsible for recent human outbreaks and deaths in China.
Avian influenza (AI) viruses normally affect poultry (e.g. domesticated chicken, ducks, and turkeys). Several strains of H7 viruses have also been found in birds including influenza A/H7N9.
